Landscape an A4 sheet and analyse the meta-structure (link takes you to extra-support, scroll to the word ‘meta-structure’) of the diary entries in the above picture.

Workbook:

  • What do you notice about the meta-structure and text features of Anne’s diary?
  • Though you perhaps can not understand the language why do you think you can understand the person? How do the text features support your view?
  • What value do you think she places on the diary? How did you come to this opinion?
  • How do the text features and meta-structure support the text structure? Please state what you believe the text structure to be.
